Description
New PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT! 1000 Watt Second DIGITAL LCD STUDIO FLASH Engineered for a true 1000 watt second burst of energy!!! Announcing the Menik LD-1000 The next generation in studio monolight design and can use a 1000 watt modeling light* Features: Quality CE Certified Guide Number in Meters 98 Guide Number in Feet 321 Sturdy rubberized metal case construction Embedded Sony controller chip provides highly accurate voltage stabilization assuring consistent exposures LCD Display provides monitoring of setting options Stylish light weight body and design Cooling fan provides air circulation Combined proportional control or independent control of modeling light and flash tube is set and displayed through the LCD screen Flash tube major power levels are 1,000, 500, 250, 125, 65 watt seconds with ten steps between each major level offering a total of 40 power levels over the entire range. The adjustments are made by simply turning a knob. The modeling light power levels operate the same way as the flash tube and show on the LCD screen. The modeling light level goes away when the modeling light is turned off (as shown in the photo). Simple Controls - The power level knob doubles as a button that can be pressed to select feature options (such as optical sync or audible chirp and others) by scrolling. Once the desired feature is selected the pressing the "Enter" button repeatedly will scroll lateral on the screen to the toggle the selected feature parameter (such as On to Off and back). All settings are monitored and displayed on the LCD screen. Audible charge indicator makes a short "chirp" or beep when the recycle charge reaches 100%. The processor controller does not allow the unit to pre-fire on a less than 100% charge assuring proper exposure. Working voltage is 180-250v, 50hz/ 100-130, 60hz Low 5 volt sync trigger voltage will not harm digital cameras An optical sync photocell trigger sits atop the unit and can be enabled or disabled via the LCD screen controls. Red Eye Flash Delay Trigger Feature - Although professional photographers would not use this, this unique feature is included. For camera flash units that pre-flash a few bursts just before the actual "exposure" burst, this monolight can be told to ignore the first two or three pre-flash bursts from the flash on your camera and to fire on the exposure burst. It accomplished this by simply counting the flashes the optical sensor receives and fires the monolight on every third or fourth one. If for some reason you get out of sync, pressing the test fire button will put you back. The number of pre-fire (red eye) bursts that your camera flash produces is programmable to a limited extent in the setup of the monolight. This unit does NOT produce any red eye bursts. It can merely delay its triggering to coincide with the one on your camera by delaying its illuminating output. Flash counter - the unit maintains a numeric number on the screen that displays the number of flashes the unit has triggered. 1/8 phono jack type sync cord (can be easily converted to 1/4" with an adapter for older sync cords) Works with all known radio controlled flash triggering devices that can be connected (some adaptor may be required to fit the 1/8" jack) Flash tube color temperature is 5400 to 5600 degrees Kelvin Flash duration 1/1500 to 1/1000 second Overheat protection circuits At 180-250 volts supplied to the unit the factory specs report a recycle time of 2-3 seconds at a full 1000 watt second charge. But, my test shows a full power recycle time @1000 watt seconds at 110 volts takes about 5 seconds with a nominal time of 1-2 seconds at lowest setting. Comes with standard 250 watt modeling light but allows for a 1000 watt modeling light. *It should be noted that the heat from a 1000 watt bulb in a soft box can cause a fire and this is only intended for use with umbrellas and high heat can decrease the life of your flash tube. Other wattage bulbs of 150, 500 watt halogen bulbs fit this unit Low cost replacements for modeling lights and flash tubes User replicable flash tube Comes with an extra long sync cord and extra long power cord and a 7 1/4 diameter reflector The length of body section (less the handle and flash tube and flash tube) is only 10". The distance from tip of the halogen bulb to the handle is 15". The 7 1/4 inch diameter reflector mounted on the front brings the overall measurement to 18". The length of the 7 1/4" diameter reflector is also 7 1/4". Under the unit there is a center balance adjustment which you slide the unit forward and back on the light stand The light stand mount is included which holds and locks the umbrella shaft Single release reflector lock on top of unit unlocks reflector with one pull while aligning locking cogs The color of the monolight unit is a two tone gray and black Reflector mount uses standard Bowens (TM) reflectors. Bowens is a trademark of Bowens International U.K. One year factory warranty excludes flash tube and halogen bulb replacement and misuse and abuse.
