The asaba is designed specifically for 4x5 cameras.  But it easily accomocates 8x10 on down to whatever can be mounted on a tripod.  The heavy, solid, metal base is equipped with rollers that are engaged with a pedal system, allowing easy movement across the floor.  Pressing and turning the foot pedal disengages the base so it sits firmly planted on the floor surface. Cameras are mounted to a tripod head that is attached to the stand arm.  The arm provides for mounting cameras on either end, and it will shift left to right about 3 feet. Large knobs lock the arm movement and the up and down movements on the 10’ column.  It is designed in such a way that when the sinar P (4x5) is mounted, the counter weight in the column equalizes with the weight of the Sinar, causing the mechanism to either sit idle in balance, or glide up or down the column with a small amount of effort.  A large round equip tray surrounds the column on top of the lateral arm.  The tray is also useful for clamping ac adaptors and directing wire feeds for digital cameras.Every other camera stand I have used throughout my career is awkward by comparison.  Foba equipment is engineered to extremely high standards.  The durability is amazing.  This stand is over 10 years old, but despite some scratches and cosmetic wear, it functions as it did the day it was put into service.  It has few limitations. However anyone who is used to using a tripod raised to maximum heights will be amazed at how solid this stand is even 10” off the floor.  A cable release and a few seconds of “calm down” will allow sharp images with multiple flashes or the longest shutter speeds.  This stand allows camera placement quickly, safely and efficiently almost anywhere in the studio. A multitude  of accessories can be purchased from Sinar Bron Foba that allows for even more versatility. During assembly of the stand from storage for these pictures, of course, one has to place the column onto the base.  When I stood the column up on the floor, the base was a little too far away, so I let go of the column thinking that if it started to fall I could easily catch it. So when that cost approaches $500, it starts to make less sense to attempt shipping.  The item is located in Royal Oak Michigan which is a Detroit suburb.   I will consider delivery in my van to nearby cities at a cost of $25/hour plus fuel expense round trip. This could easily cost $300 but is saves the cost of purchase/building crating and disposal of all the crating material, etc.  I am willing to crate and ship, but it will be expensive.  There will be a crate fee, somewhere in the area of $200 and a shipping fee that will be based on distance and what the carrier charges me.
